Phuket → Koh Phi Phi

Ferry and boats at Ton Sai Pier on Koh Phi Phi
Rassada and Ton Sai are the two names that matter most on this crossing.

Phuket → Koh Phi Phi is the best route for understanding how Thailand ferry tickets work because the same route can be sold as a standard ferry, speedboat or a transfer-inclusive product.

Rassada Pier is the main departure point for many services. On Phi Phi Don, Ton Sai Pier is the main central arrival. Some services also use or continue toward Laem Tong in the north.

If your product starts in Patong, Kata, Karon or Phuket Airport rather than at Rassada, it probably includes a road transfer before the boat. Check that before comparing journey times.

Questions before booking

FAQ

Which Phuket pier goes to Phi Phi?

Rassada Pier is the main departure point for many services, but check the exact terminal on the ticket.

How long is Phuket → Phi Phi?

Many products take about 1–2+ hours depending on the product.

Is Krabi Town the same as Ao Nang?

No. They follow different transfer patterns and may use different piers.

Is Koh Lanta → Koh Lipe seasonal?

It is more seasonal than the major Phuket/Phi Phi crossings, so search the exact travel date.

Which Samui pier should I use?

Use the actual terminal on your ticket. Nathon, Maenam/Pralarn and Bangrak are different parts of the island.

Is Donsak in Surat Thani city?

No. Donsak is the coastal ferry gateway; a Surat Thani product can include the road transfer before the boat.

Can I take a car to Koh Samui?

Vehicle ferries are common around Donsak, but the vehicle must be booked separately according to the operator’s rules.

Does Samui → Koh Tao stop at Phangan?

Some services run through Koh Phangan, so a single booking does not always mean a nonstop crossing.

What is a sleeper boat?

It is a slow overnight service. Sleeping arrangements vary and should not be assumed to mean a private cabin.

Is Koh Lipe → Langkawi international?

Yes. Passport and immigration processing are part of the journey.

Can weather change a ferry service?

Operators change schedules and seasonal services. Search your travel date before relying on sample times.

Can I fly immediately after a ferry?

Do not build a tight onward flight around the scheduled arrival.

What does Van + Ferry mean?

It means road pickup or transfer plus the boat in one booking.

Does direct mean nonstop?

No. Some products make intermediate stops or include a road transfer.

How early should I check in?

Use the time shown on your final ticket. International routes also need immigration time.

Ferry or speedboat to Phi Phi?

A standard ferry is usually larger and slower. A speedboat shortens the crossing but has less space. Compare the full product before booking.

Ton Sai or Laem Tong?

Ton Sai is the main arrival for central Phi Phi Don. Laem Tong is in the quieter north and may suit resorts there.

Does Phuket Airport have a ferry terminal?

No. Phuket Airport is not Rassada Pier. A Phuket Airport product may include the road transfer before the boat.

Is Railay connected by road?

No. Railay is a boat-access area, so local boat connections are part of many transfers.

Can I go Phuket → Koh Lanta by ferry?

Yes. Faster speedboats and slower ferry products are available, and some services stop along the way.

What is Pak Bara?

Pak Bara is a mainland departure point for Koh Lipe on the Satun coast. A Hat Yai booking may include the road transfer there.

Is Bangkok → Koh Kood a direct ferry?

Usually no. Combined tickets commonly use a bus or van from Bangkok to a Trat-area pier before the ferry.

Is Malaysia the same time as Thailand?

No. Koh Lipe and Langkawi use different local time zones. Check the local time on each ticket.

Can weather cancel ferries?

Short-term marine conditions can delay or cancel a sailing. Follow the operator’s rebooking or refund instructions.

Does hotel pickup mean ferry terminal pickup?

Not always. Check the first meeting point and whether the road transfer is included in the product.

Do I need to print the ticket?

Use the booking confirmation and its check-in instructions. The meeting time can be earlier than the sailing.

Is Chumphon a mainland gateway to Koh Tao?

Yes. Chumphon is a common mainland gateway, especially for travelers arriving from Bangkok by train or bus.

Can I take a vehicle to Koh Chang?

Vehicle ferries operate on selected Koh Chang routes. Check the vehicle terms separately from the passenger fare.

Do all operators use the same baggage rules?

No. Baggage limits and oversized-item rules vary by operator, vessel and ticket type.

How do I get from a Koh Lipe arrival to my hotel?

Some services use a beach or floating-pontoon arrival. Check how luggage reaches shore and whether a local transfer is arranged.
